Liam McIlwain

Born in Brisbane, Liam has studied Musical Theatre at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music and has completed a Diploma of Arts (Dance) from the Dance Factory in Melbourne as a scholarship student.  While still studying he made his professional debut in Bye Bye, Birdie for the Production Company in Melbourne.  Upon graduation he was cast in the Australian tour of Grease: The Arena Spectacular (SEL/GFO) in the ensemble and also understudying the roles of Doody and Sonny.  He then went on to appear in Saturday Night (Magnormos), McCubbin – The Opera (NGV/Hydra), My Fair Lady (Arts Events Management), Sunset Boulevard (The Production Company), the Bollywood feature film Salaam Namaste (Black Cat Films) and many other performances spanning television, corporate events and children’s entertainment around the country.  Liam toured Australia as an original cast member in the world premier of Dusty – The Original Pop Diva (Dusty Productions) and featured on the subsequent television documentary series Dusty – Little By Little (ABC). Most recently he performed the role of Skimbleshanks in the International Tour of Cats (Really Useful Group) with successful seasons in Taiwan, Korea and Thailand and has appeared in the Melbourne and Sydney seasons of Shout! Most recently Liam played the lead role of Ryan in Australia’s High School Musical and he is now on tour around Australia with Mary Poppins.
