The high standard of theatrical talent that Australia has produced has long been recognised throughout the world.
The local cast of international blockbusters are hailed as amongst the best in the world, and conversely, the stages of the world are resplendent with Australian talent.
If you combine tenacity and positive energy with all round strength in dance and acting and singing , you create a performer who is able to shine in any performance situation, which is the hallmark of the Australian performer.
There is one performing arts studio that has ridden this wave of acceptance and admiration, that had its start back in the early eighties, when Dulcie Lee saw that there was a need to establish a studio that catered to the specific requirements of modern musical theatre and commercial dance. An environment that would allow professionals the opportunity to teach, and pass on their knowledge in an atmosphere of excellence. A studio that would allow students to focus full time on developing and honing their performance skills and then graduate into the world of the professional.
Thus in 1982 Dance Factory was created, and in 1985 the Dance Factory full time course was established, setting a level of training that others would try to follow. Due to the quality of its’ teachers, a strong emphasis on performance and Dulcie Lee’s direction, and attention to technique and detail, the Dance Factory students have found their place throughout the West End, Broadway, Asia and virtually every major musical production in Australian Theater.
As the new century dawns, and Dance Factory heads towards it’s twentieth anniversary, its success will continue to be reflected in the quality and accomplishments of its students, and will continue to hold it’s place at the forefront of performing arts training in Australia.
