The aim of this program is to provide young people with industry knowledge, and dance technical and performance skills. Students will learn to work with others, follow direction, self-motivate, adapt quickly to changes, and gain self-confidence.
The training will include classes in Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, minimal theory and a performance at the end of each term. The skills learned can be related to everyday fitness and co-ordination, further training in dance and performance and appreciation of the performing arts.
Students must completes Units 1 & 2 before commencing 3 & 4.
On successful completion of this program the student will receive:
Credit towards VCE: students will be eligible for up to five units credit towards VCE, 3 units at Unit 1 / 2 level, plus a Units 3 / 4 sequence. Students wishing to receive an ATAR contribution for the Units 3 / 4 sequence must undertake scored assessment for the purpose of gaining a study score. The study score can contribute directly to the primary four or as a fifth or sixth study.
Credit towards VCAL: this program contributes to the Industry Specific Skills Strand of VCAL and may also contribute to the Work Related Skills Strand for VCAL
Qualification A nationally recognised qualification – CUA20113 Certificate II in Dance
Further studies Possibly gain credit for University Entry.

CERTIFICATE III IN DANCE
Year 12 students that have already completed VCE VET Dance/ CUA20113 Certificate II in Dance can do one further year of study to complete their CUA30113 Certificate III in Dance.
Develop own dance skills, technique & performance with minimal theory.
Classes in Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary & Performance with Ballet or Tap as alternative options.
Units completed are under Block Credit Recognition (BCR) and may be eligible for credit towards the VCE.
Duration 1 year part time 4 hours per week

MONDAY & WEDNESDAY
Develop own dance skills, technique, performance & choreography with study of dance and analysis of choreography. VCE students must undertake Unit 3 before 4.
Classes in Jazz, Contemporary, Performance & Theory.
Duration Units 1 – 4 2 years 4 hours per week or
Units 3-4 1 year 4 hours per week (for Intermediate or advanced dance students only)

ENTRY TO VCE & VCE VET DANCE
There are no pre-requisites but due to the physical nature of the course, physical ability is an important consideration. Previous dance experience would be beneficial. Access to the course is not limited on the basis of gender, social or educational background.

Mark Laguerre – Artistic Director; worked throughout Australia as an actor, singer & dancer in theatre & television. Was the Artistic & Dance Director for the Victorian State Schools Spectacular for 15 years. Now also teaches Drama & Singing at Dance Factory. TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Bachelor of Education
Vicki Lee – Administrative Director; worked as a dancer performing on television & in cabaret shows. Choreographic credits include cabaret shows for Asia & various conventions. Currently teaches jazz & tap and is a DFTA teacher & examiner. TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and Diploma of Arts (Dance and Performance)
Fran Neumann – Student Co-ordinator, toured extensively throughout Australia & South East Asia as a dancer. TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment and Diploma of Dance & Performance. Currently teaches ballet classes and is a DFTA teacher & examiner

All students perform in our end of term performances and are required to buy tickets
From $30-$90 per ticket (Compulsory minimum of: Term 1– 2 tickets, Terms 2, 3 & 4 – 3 tickets)
