DANCE!      MOVEMENT!    FUN!    PERFORMANCE!

Dance Factory is the perfect school to harness the passion and energy that young people now have for Dance.

Why Dance Factory?

40 YEARS HISTORY
We have a proud history of producing some of Australia’s finest performers and choreographers and we apply that same attention to Dance technique, safety and performance to our junior school.

DANCE PROFESSIONALS
Our kids and teenager classes cover a variety of dance styles, all taught by Dance professionals.

PERFORM ON STAGE
We believe in learning through performance. Our Junior School performs on stage in both our mid and end of year shows & teenagers perform at the end of every term.

SHOW COSTUMES SUPPLIED
No need to make or sew your own costumes.

Our students are encouraged to treat dance as part of a balanced lifestyle, with schoolwork, social life and leisure being of equal priority. Students can choose from Jazz, Ballet, Tap and Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Contemporary, Lyrical or a combination of these. If you are unsure of which classes to select, we can advise you.

Teachers are advised that classes should be fun, friendly and non-competitive. Our teachers are aware of the need for safe dance technique in young bodies, each student’s body is treated individually

JUNIOR & TEENAGE CLASSES
Every class involves teacher led practical warm up exercises, isolations, stretch and strengthening, travelling and dance routines. Some of these dances are created and rehearsed for the end of term performances and the class exercises are for exams.

PERFORMANCES
Students participating in performances will be required to purchase 3 compulsory tickets.

CLASSES INVOLVED IN PERFORMANCES

¨ 13 & under    2nd & 4th Term performances at a Theatre

¨ 14 & over    Students in performance classes will be involved in all 4 term performances. 1st and 2nd term at Dance Factory, 3rd term at a cabaret venue and 4th term at a theatre

Parents do not have to make or buy expensive costumes for these performances. There is a costume levy of $50 per performance for your first class and $10 for every class after that.

Costumes are tried on at the studios and students leave the costumes at the theatre for the Dance Factory staff to collect, wash and put away in the costume wardrobe.

EXAMS
The D.F.T.A. syllabus (Dance Factory Teachers Academy) is incorporated into all junior classes to assist students with improvement of their standard by repetition and gradual achievement at different levels of dance. Exams are held in Term 3 and 4, and are conducted at Dance Factory.  Students will receive a report.

This is an excellent way of improving students self esteem and setting an achievable goal.

COMPETITIONS
Dance Factory students ages 7 years & older will be invited to compete at dance competitions around Victoria. If anyone is interested in participating in dance competitions, please let us know. Students can enter in troupes, duos & solos.
